Another Gut the Glebe proposal.

I am supposed to schlep on and off a bus for family groceries, dining, gifts, etc.?

I am supposed to park my vehicle off-street where?

Most “transit passengers” will transit straight through the Glebe to other destinations.

And all the pro-bus advocates can support the local businesses until they close.

My vehicle and I will be going to a shopping mall, where we are welcome.

Bye, bye, Glebe.

Who speaks for the small businesses in the Glebe? It is pretty obvious that a call by Marko Miljusevic (a Strong Towns Ottawa board member) for 24-hour bus lanes along Bank Street indicates a complete lack of consideration for the small businesses that pay hefty tax bills and also have seen their revenues decline.

It is also pretty clear his suggestion that people park on side streets indicates that he is unaware that those parking spots virtually never exist. Perhaps he could recommend flying cars to facilitate better traffic flow.

Let common sense prevail. Small businesses need our support.

BREAK IS OVER — FOR A FEW DAYS

Finally, Emperor Ford has reconvened the Ontario legislature after a break of 14 weeks — not even a third of a year!

Don’t worry about overexertion, however. The legislature will rise again on 4 June for another break after sitting only 32 days. When you are there, you fiddle on inconsequential nonsense (Highway 401 tunnel, anyone?) rather than major concerns like education, health issues, provincial deficit and debt, etc. And whatever became of the income tax reduction you promised a couple of campaigns back?

Is the work overtaxing you, Dougie? We know you’re overtaxing us — both financially and our patience. Or are side issues and not being in the legislature other ploys to shield yourself from opposition scrutiny?

How about working at least half as much as the average taxpaying Ontarian?
