The Montreal Canadiens announced on Friday that they have signed defenceman Owen Protz to a three-year, entry-level contract.
Protz, 20, scored five goals with 23 points in 64 regular-season games with the OHL’s Brantford Bulldogs this season. Brantford begins its first-round playoff series Friday night against the Sudbury Wolves.
A fourth-round pick (102nd overall) by Montreal in 2024, Protz has played in 198 OHL games, scoring 13 goals with 74 points.
