In the name of performance, race-inspired cars sometimes come with features that might feel “cheap” at first glance. One woman on TikTok poked fun at that after showing what her boyfriend’s high-end Porsche looks like from the inside.

TikTok creator Katie Renne (@kt.r3n) posted a video that has garnered over 8,000 views, which shows her sitting inside her boyfriend’s Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

“POV: his car doesn’t have door handles, but you chose him for love, not money,” she jokingly wrote in the video’s text overlay.

In the clip, she reached toward the door to open it. Instead of a handle, she grabs a bright green fabric strap that matches the vehicle’s exterior and pulls it to unlatch the door.

Why The Porsche 911 GT3 RS Has Straps Instead Of A Handle

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is built to be as close to a race car as possible while still being street-legal, with performance as the main priority. Because of that, Porsche focused on reducing unnecessary parts and keeping things as simple and lightweight as possible.

A traditional door handle uses multiple heavy components inside the door, while a strap does the same job with a direct pull on the latch. A similar mechanism can also be found in other race cars.

Additionally, the car also uses carbon fiber for its body panels, including the doors. That limits the types of mechanisms that can be installed, especially more complex or electronic ones.

These design decisions lead to impressive specs: an engine that produces around 518 horsepower and revs up to 9,000 rpm. This car can go from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.0 seconds and has a top speed of 184 mph.

This is definitely not a comfort-first car, and it is built for drivers who prioritize speed and adrenaline over convenience.

Commenters Recognize The Supercar

In the comments section, viewers joined in on the joke.

“I’m dead,” one user wrote.

Another viewer jokingly wrote, “He literally didn’t have the money to replace the handle and just put whatever there. you’re a real one for staying with him!!”

“It is LITERALLY a GT3RS,” another pointed out.
