Axel Laurance secured a second stage victory at Settimana Coppi e Bartali to move back into the race lead.
The Frenchman timed his sprint perfectly into Valdobbiadene, holding off Mauro Schmid (Jayco AlUla) to reclaim the leader’s jersey and taking a two-second advantage into the final stage.
Laurance was supported ably by a young Grenadiers squad, who drove the pace late on to help set up the finish for Laurance. The team were doubly impressive given their numbers were depleted, with Dylan Sage sadly unable to start the penultimate stage due to illness.
Sunday’s concluding stage features a tough finale following two ascents of the Monte Stella climb. AJ August also remains well placed, just 20 bonus seconds back on his teammate.
