Ottawa Senators
The Ottawa Senators have loaned defenceman Jorian Donovan back to the Belleville Senators of the American Hockey League, the team announced Sunday.
Donovan, 21, was recalled by Ottawa last week alongside Carter Yakemchuk following a pair of injuries to defencemen Thomas Chabot and Lassi Thomson.
The Calgary native logged 4:42 of ice time in his NHL debut on Tuesday in Ottawa’s crucial win over the Detroit Red Wings, before playing 9:22 in Thursday’s loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins, going without a point in each game.
Donovan was scratched on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Lightning with Thomson returning to the lineup following a two-game absence, and now heads back to the AHL after his first taste of NHL action.
A fifth-round pick of the Sens in 2022, Donovan has scored four goals with 17 assists in 58 games played for Belleville this season.
Following back-to-back losses, Ottawa has fallen one point out of the wild card with nine games remaining in the regular season.
Chicago Blackhawks
Defenceman Kevin Korchinski has been recalled by the Chicago Blackhawks from the AHL ahead of Sunday’s game against the New Jersey Devils.
Korchinski, 21, has appeared in four games for Chicago this season, last playing on March 1 before being sent back down four days later.
The team’s seventh overall pick in the 2022 NHL draft, Korchinski has spent much of the past two seasons with the team’s AHL affiliate, Rockford IceHogs, scoring five goals and 53 points in 109 games.
A native of Saskatoon, Sask. Korchinski has skated in 96 career games for the Blackhawks, registering six goals and 12 assists while playing to a minus-12 rating.
Florida Panthers
Florida Panthers forward Jack Studnicka has been loaned back to the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL, the team announced Friday.
Studnicka, 27, was recalled on Saturday with A.J. Greer (suspension) and Evan Rodrgiues (broken finger) unavailable for the team’s contest against the New York Islanders on Saturday.
The Windsor, Ont. native logged 7:32 of ice time in 5-2 loss, and now heads back down with Greer eligible to return from suspension in Florida’s Sunday matinee against the New York Rangers.
Studnicka has failed to register a point in 19 games played for the Panthers this season, also playing to a minus-six rating.
He has skated in 126 career NHL contests since being selected by the Boston Bruins in the second round of the 2017 draft, scoring six goals and 16 points.
The 6-foot-1 centreman spent the first four years of his career in the Bruins organization, and has also spent time with the Vancouver Canucks, San Jose Sharks, and Panthers.
Seattle Kraken
The Seattle Kraken have reassigned forward Logan Morrison to the AHL’s Coachella Valley Firebirds, the team announced Sunday.
Morrison, 23, was recalled under emergency conditions on Friday with injuries to Kraken forwards Jaden Schwartz and Jared McCann.
The Guelph native did not skate in Saturday’s 3-2 shootout loss to the Buffalo Sabres, and now heads back down to the AHL.
Morrison has not appeared in the NHL since the 2023-24 season, where he played in four games.
Signed as an undrafted free agent by Seattle, Morrison has played in 197 games with Coachella Valley across the past three seasons, scoring 57 goals and 82 assists for 139 points.
This year, the right-shot centreman has set career-highs in goals (27) and assists (29), leading the team in both.
Seattle (32-29-11) is two points back of the Nashville Predators for the final wild-card spot in the Western Conference.
