A 4.8-magnitude earthquake was measured 180 kilometres west of Port Hardy on Vancouver Island Sunday morning, EmergencyInfoBC says.

There is no tsunami threat to B.C., the service says.

The quake was recorded at a depth of five km shortly before 11 a.m. There have been no reports of damage.

The USGS registered the quake at 4.2.

This comes only days after a 4.2-magnitude quake was measured in the same region. That tremor struck about 250 km southwest of Port Hardy just before 12:30 p.m. on March 23.
