• Roses to Cobs Bakery for donating all their bread at the end of each day to soup kitchens feeding our community. You not only have the very best fresh bread, you support the community. Thank you.
• Roses to the instructors and lifeguards working for the City of Surrey. You are much appreciated for teaching and watching us to keep us safe.
• Roses to St. Paul’s Hospital, Royal Columbian Hospital; they have 50/50 jackpot lotteries. This money raises a lot of money for equipment and patient items. Many people will have $10 to $50 to buy a ticket but would not mail that amount of money to a hospital. Step it up, Surrey Memorial Hospital, many of us want a 50/50 lottery to help our Surrey hospital.
• Rotten tomatoes to the provincial government. I received a letter stating my property in Surrey now “falls under the new Small Scale Multi-Unit housing (SSMUH) legislation.” It states the SSMUH legislation allows for easier development without the requirements for rezoning. “Lots over 3,000 square feet are eligible for between 2 and 6 dwellings.” The letter states that based on the proximity to a frequent bus stop, my property is now eligible for up to 6 dwellings on my lot. It appears to me that the provincial government is assuming no occupants will have cars because the property is close to a bus stop. Why is legislation like this allowed without any consultation with neighbourhoods?
