Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund and emerging Red Devils talent Sekou Kone both made their respective marks during a pre-season training session under Ruben Amorim.

Ruben Amorim and Co are on the verge of making their return to action for the first time together since the Red Devils completed their two-match post-season tour of Asia.

Manchester United are scheduled to face newly promoted Premier League side Leeds United on Saturday, with the Red Devils travelling to the Strawberry Arena in Solna.

Kick-off for the friendly match between United and Leeds United in Sweden is slated for 2pm UK time, with the Red Devils preparing ahead for the new season.

United manager Amorim oversaw the return of his first-team Red Devils squad to the Carrington training complex for their first pre-season under his Old Trafford reign.

The first wave of United players reported to Carrington on 7th July before the second phase of the Red Devils stars returned to training later in the same week.

Rasmus Hojlund struggled to impress in his second full season at Old Trafford and the 22-year-old Manchester United striker has been linked with a move away.

However, the Inter Milan and AC Milan-linked forward has suggested that he will remain at the Premier League club and fight for his place to lead the frontline.

Hojlund, who is under contract with United until 2028, netted only 10 times in 52 matches across all competitions in the 2024-25 campaign for the Red Devils.

Sekou Kone, on the other hand, has impressed in the United youth academy and the 19-year-old midfielder is now securing important first-team training experience.

Adam Marshall shared details on Manchester United’s official website over what he saw from a shooting session during the second week of pre-season training.

Kone showed his fine finishing with “one exquisite strike with the outside of his foot,” while Hojlund was “all smiles” after what he did during the shooting exercise.

According to Adam Marshall, Hojlund was able to pull off “two sweet finishes in quick succession” and the United striker evoked “admiring comments from his colleagues.”

Rasmus Hojlund and Sekou Kone now have a chance to send Ruben Amorim a clear-cut message in Man Utd’s pre-season tour

The sky is the limit for Sekou Kone and the Malian-born defensive midfielder can now have a lasting impression on Amorim during the pre-season tour this summer.

Amorim will rotate his first-team squad over the course of the matches in Europe and the United States and Kone is likely to secure some crucial first-team minutes.

It is all down to Kone to seize the moment and for the United youth academy product to prove why he is ready for an elevation to the Red Devils’ first-team squad.

Hojlund, meanwhile, can show both United fans and Amorim why he shouldn’t be written off and why he still has a long-term future at Old Trafford as a striker.
