The Boston Red Sox checked in at No. 7 in Bleacher Report’s latest MLB power rankings released on Monday morning after the 2026 opening weekend.

Despite dropping two of three games on the road against the Cincinnati Reds, the club’s mix of veteran steadiness and youthful talent earned respect from the national outlet’s MLB writer, Joel Reuter.

“While the Red Sox offense is just 5-for-29 with runners in scoring position, outfielders Wilyer Abreu (6-for-13, 2 2B, 2 HR, 4 RBI) and Roman Anthony (4-for-13, 3 BB) both looked good at the plate following solid WBC runs,” Reuter wrote. “Rookie Connelly Early (5.1 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 6 K) has sleeper AL Rookie of the Year upside in the rotation.”

Abreu’s two homers and Anthony’s patient approach at the plate have given the lineup a dynamic look, while Early’s strong debut innings have already sparked buzz around the Boston rotation, which will send Ranger Suárez to the mound on Monday night in Houston.

With the season still in its infancy, Boston sits in strong position to climb even higher if the bats start clicking in clutch spots.
