After leaving a case in a taxi cab, a 22-year-old has been charged with firearm and drug-related charges.
An investigation was opened on March 26, 2026 by the Winnipeg Police Service’s Firearms Enforcement Unit (FEU) and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).
The suspect rode in a taxi from an address in the North End to a residence in the 2500 block of Pembina Highway on February 25, 2026. During the trip, he took a black case out of his backpack and left it in the taxi when the ride was over.
The cab driver located the case and found a loaded Glock handgun with an auto sear, an extended magazine, and 9mm ammunition. The case and firearm were given over to the police, and the FEU assumed the investigation.
A 22-year-old male was identified as the suspect and linked an associated address in the 2500 of Pembina Highway.
A search warrant was executed at the residence on Pembina where the suspect was arrested without incident.
During the search of the residence, officers located the following evidence:
23 Grams of Cocaine (Estimated Street Value = $2,300)
124 Grams of Crack Cocaine (Estimated Street Value = $9,920)

The suspect was charged with multiple firearms-related, drug trafficking, and failure to comply with conditions of release order offences. He was also arrested on the strength of two warrants of arrest for failure to attend court.
He was detained in custody.
