UPDATE: Peel Regional Police said shortly before 3 p.m. on Tuesday that the “hold-and-secure” alerts at the three Mississauga schools has been lifted. (Original story below)
Three schools in Mississauga’s east end have been partially locked down on Tuesday afternoon due to a police call in the area.
Dixie Public School, Tomken Road Middle School and St. Thomas More Elementary School have all been placed in “hold-and-secure” mode as a precaution, Peel Regional Police said at around 2:15 p.m.
Police said officers are in the area for “a person in crisis call” that’s not related to any of the schools.
Dixie Public School is located on Flagship Drive while the other two schools are situated close together on nearby Tomken Road.
“Hold-and-secure” orders put schools on notice that something is happening in the vicinity related to a police call.
A full lockdown is ordered when any school and/or students are thought to be in potential danger.
