Montreal police say the death of an 18-year-old woman who was found unconscious inside an apartment in the borough of Villeray—Saint-Michel—Parc-Extension is being investigated as a homicide.
Montreal police spokesperson Const. Jean-Pierre Brabant said officers where called to a residence on Everett Street, near 18th Avenue, at around 12:15 p.m.
Brabant said CPR was performed, but the young woman was declared dead at the scene. A Quebec coroner will perform an autopsy.
Police said the woman was injured in an altercation and Brabant later confirmed she was the victim of a homicide.
Officers cordoned off the area around the apartment and have set up a command post, with the major crimes unit leading the investigation.
A 20-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is expected to meet with investigators Tuesday evening.
