One person is in hospital following a fire Tuesday night in a West End apartment complex.
The blaze broke out just before 7 p.m. in a three-storey apartment building on Sherbrook Street, just north of Ellice Avenue.
Flames and smoke were pouring out of the building when crews arrived. Firefighters fought the blaze from outside the building, declaring it under control shortly before 7:30 p.m.
As a result, Sherbrook Street was closed between Ellice Avenue and Sargent Avenue.
One person was taken to hospital in unstable condition. Everyone else was able to evacuate safely.
It’s believed the fire was contained to the suite where it started.
There is no word on a cause.
Fire officials continue to investigate.
