Tina Daheley has said it’s been a ‘difficult week’ as she confirmed her radio return, which comes after her colleague BBC Radio 2 breakfast show host Scott Mills’ bombshell sacking.
On Monday (March 30), the corporation revealed it had terminated Mills’ contract just days after taking him off air last week, which The Mirror reported was due to his “personal misconduct”.
It has since emerged that BBC bosses reportedly knew former BBC Radio 2 presenter Scott Mills had been questioned by police in 2018 – more than seven years before he was sacked. But that his exit from the corporation now comes after the BBC were passed new claims relating to the same complainant that differ from the allegations at the centre of the police probe.

The Metropolitan Police launched an investigation into the 53-year-old in 2016 over allegations of serious sexual offences involving a teenage boy under 16 between 1997 and 2000.
Mills was questioned under caution by officers in July 2018, and The Sun reported Mills denied the claims at the time and informed the BBC. The newspaper said BBC bosses decided not to take the then Radio 1 presenter off air at the time and the case was later dropped in May 2019 due to lack of evidence.

Hampshire Police say the sexual offences allegations were first reported by a third party in 2016, and that the force logged the details and passed on information to the Met for investigation.
The Met, which does not identify people under investigation pre-charge, said it closed its investigation in May 2019 following advice from the Crown Prosecution Service that “the evidential threshold had not been met to bring charges”.
Now, Mills’ colleague Tina, who joined him in the studio every day to read the news on the Radio 2 breakfast show, which he began hosting in January 2025 following Zoe Ball’s exit, returned to Instagram and reflected on what has been a ‘difficult week.’
It was in January 2019 that she moved to BBC Radio 2 as the newsreader on The Radio 2 Breakfast Show, originally with Zoe, and later stayed with the show with Mills took over.
Posting a photo of her cup of tea in bed to her Instagram Story, she penned on Wednesday (April 1): “Good morning! Just about recovered from this awful cold/flu I’ve had for the past week (being parent to primary school aged child is like having a subscription service to viruses!)
“Good news is I’m over the worst of it and looking forward to spending 2 weeks with my family over the Easter hols from tomorrow after what’s been an incredibly difficult past week. I’ll be back on the radio Tuesday 21st April.”
Mills last hosted Radio 2’s Breakfast Show last Tuesday (March 24) and signed off with “see you tomorrow”, before being replaced by Gary Davies. In an email sent to staff, Lorna Clarke, the BBC’s director of music, acknowledged the news was “sudden and unexpected, and therefore must come as a shock”.
