Police in Markham have arrested a Brampton man accused of seven robberies in under a week, and under investigation for nearly 20 more incidents.
York Regional Police say officers were called just after midnight on Monday for a robbery at a gas station in the area of Bur Oak Avenue and McCowan Road.
Officers say a male suspect entered the gas station making threats and demands for cash before fleeing the scene with an undisclosed quantity of currency.
No injuries were reported, and police say an investigation led to the identification of a suspect allegedly involved in seven robberies in York Region between March 24 and March 30.
The 35-year-old male suspect from Brampton has been charged and is being investigated for at least 19 additional robberies across the Greater Toronto Area.
York police say Andre Lawrence, 35, of Brampton, has been charged with seven counts each of robbery and disguise with intent, along with operation while prohibited, dangerous driving, fail to comply with undertaking, and stunt driving.
Police say the accused was on an undertaking for an unrelated offence at the time of his arrest.
