One person was taken to hospital with injuries after a house explosion shortly after 11:30 Saturday morning on Marshall Street near Little Avenue in Barrie
Deputy Fire Chief Eric MacFadden told Barrie 360 the injuries to the person are “significant.” He said a passerby located the individual, but he was unsure if the injured person was found in the rubble of the home or outside.

He added they have determined nobody else was in the home at the time of the blast.
Homes on either side of the residence also sustained damage.

MacFadden says the Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate.
People in the neighbourhood where the explosion occurred posted to social media that the blast rocked their homes, with one person saying they thought it was their kids moving furniture.
A video posted to Facebook shows a woman sitting on a chair on a deck when the explosion occurs.
Police will hold the scene as part of the investigation.
