It’s been radio silence around Jack Roslovic and the Maple Leafs but a new report from Elite Prospects that shows he’s gaining interest outside of the NHL which is why there may be a delay.

While he would be a great addition nonetheless, there’s minimal cap space for the team to facilitate a move, and until they can get their roster figured out and potentially trade one of their veteran contracts it’s going to be more silence out of the Leafs and Roslovic rumors.

What the Delay Reveals About Toronto’s Offseason Strategy

Multiple KHL clubs have made bids on UFA Jack Roslovic.

It’s unknown which clubs are in the mix but for someone with the resume and skillset of Roslovic, expect the heavy hitters like SKA St. Petersburg, CSKA Moscow, Ak Bars Kazan, Spartak Moscow, and Lokomotiv Yaroslavl.

It’s a big turn of events as we’ve heard really nothing outside of those rumors that have plagued the news for weeks.

It means that Toronto could have had an offer for him, and his patience previously might not just have been waiting on the Maple Leafs; he could have had his suitors long before.

How Roslovic Could Fill a Key Gap in the Maple Leafs’ Lineup

Toronto can definitely use him however, and if he can replicate his 22-goal output at a minimal cost; then it’s an absolute steal.

But it’s obvious that Roslovic has the potential to be a stud wherever he goes and the fact that he isn’t only drawing interest from one KHL teams but there’s a bidding war means the Maple Leafs need to act quickly if they have any hopes of re-signing him.

He would add a 20-goal scorer to the team on the cheap, has familiarity with Auston Matthews (they played on the US Development Team together) and can slot in pretty much anywhere in any position; he’s a Swiss Army knife.

Reports stated that Roslovic wanted to earn about $3-million for his next deal per season, and while it’s not a huge number in the grand scheme of things, Toronto only has $1.92-million to work with, and getting rid of Kampf and Calle Järnkrok is truly imperative if the team wants to accomplish anything else this offseason.

So time is of the essence for Brad Treliving, because he might lose out on his top target to a team on the other side of the world.
