A brand-new high-rise is on the way for downtown Edmonton, with the second tower in the Falcon development currently under construction.

The tower, known as Falcon Two, is part of a broader push for affordable housing units in the core. The building will have 255 units, with 67 set aside specifically for students. Those units will remain dedicated to student housing for at least 10 years, according to Alberta Major Projects.

Partial funding for the building will come from Edmonton’s share of the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) to ensure affordable housing units can be built by 2027.

Falcon Two is the second tower of the development. Falcon One, located at 10023 104 Street, is 30 stories tall and includes 240 purpose-built rentals.

Designed for modern urban living, the tower features a range of amenities, including a rooftop patio, dog run, fitness centre, and dedicated workspaces for residents.

The building also includes a five-storey underground parkade and a two-storey podium with retail and amenity space.

The new tower is under construction at the corner of 104th Street and 100th Avenue. Developed by Langham Developments, also behind the Fox Towers further north, it is expected to be complete by 2027.
