ROCKINGHAM, N.C. (WBTV) – A famous YouTuber will race at a historic NASCAR track in North Carolina this weekend.
Garrett Mitchell — better known as “Cleetus McFarland” — will be behind the wheel of the No. 33 car for Richard Childress Racing during the April 4 O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Rockingham Speedway.
The YouTube star has become popular in the racing community, and was close friends with the late Greg Biffle.
Saturday will mark McFarland’s debut in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series but it will not be his first race in NASCAR. He competed in the season-opening Truck Series race at Daytona back on Feb. 13. He crashed out five laps in and finished 37th.
The 30-year-old has raced in five ARCA events between 2025 and 2026, and twice finished in the top 10.
“To have the opportunity to make my NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series debut with a legendary race team like Richard Childress Racing is a dream come true,” McFarland said in a news release. “It’s a huge honor.”
His red No. 33 car will be sponsored by Tommy’s Express Car Wash and features a bald eagle just above the front grille, along with a band of stars going around the hood with more stars on the roof — likely nods to McFarland’s “Freedom Factory” content.
He will hit the track at Rockingham on Friday afternoon for practice and qualifying before the green flag drops for Saturday’s race shortly after 2:30 p.m. EST.
The popular content creator has 4.67 million subscribers on YouTube and nearly 983,000 followers on Instagram.
