It’s sure to be an interesting offseason for the Vancouver Canucks.

They’re going to finish dead-last in the NHL standings and secure a top-three draft pick. They might trade Elias Pettersson, and who knows who else. They’ll also have to decide if they want to name a new captain.

But will any of their key decision-makers take the fall for what went wrong this season?

Many have wondered if head coach Adam Foote will get another shot behind the bench.

Jim Rutherford is 77 years old. How long does he want to stick around for what is expected to be a lengthy rebuild?

Then there’s GM Patrik Allvin, who looked like he might get fired judging by a report earlier in the week.

“There are strong suggestions that change is coming, but to what extent remains unclear,” Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos reported on Monday. “Either way, I hear GM Patrik Allvin doesn’t expect to survive past this season.”

Well, not so fast.

On Thursday, TSN’s Darren Dreger painted a completely different picture on Insider Trading.

“Patrik Allvin has no intention of leaving as general manager of the Vancouver Canucks and he remains highly regarded… He’s viewed as being an excellent evaluator of talent, an excellent manager when it comes to finding talent,” said Dreger.

“[Allvin] wants to see the rebuild through, and so does Jim Rutherford. You could see hockey operations changes in Vancouver, but I don’t think that it’s going to come in senior management or at the position of GM.”
