The victim of a serious assault that occurred earlier this week in the northeast community of Pineridge has succumbed to her injuries.
An autopsy was conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner today, Thursday, April 2, 2026.
As this incident is domestic in nature, to protect the privacy of the victim’s family and the identity of the youth offender, the victim’s name will not be released. The victim is the accused’s grandmother.
At approximately 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2026, we were called for reports of an altercation occurring in a residence in Pineridge. Upon arrival, a woman in her 50s was located in medical distress and transported to hospital in life-threatening condition, where she later died.
A 15-year-old male was taken into custody at the scene and has been charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of mischief to property under $5,000. The teen cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Charges are expected to be upgraded at the teen’s next court appearance on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
