Our current PM — much like the previous one — seems to enjoy his photo-ops. Photo by Blair Gable /Postmedia Network archiveArticle content
Photo-op PM
Carney has called for three byelections — it should have been six with the three floor-crossers included, to be judged by their constituents. To the Liberal voters in Chrystia Freeland and Bill Blair’s ridings, think before you mark your X. Eleven years of Liberals has seen our standard of living plummet, mass immigration, massive deficits and debt, civil unrest, free drugs, open door crime, endless taxes, inflation, rising food prices, homelessness. Carney does photo ops like Justin Trudeau and gets nothing done.

GLENN CUNNINGHAM
(Unfortunately they will not be heeding your words and will give the Carney Liberals a majority)
No leadership
Wow! Canada, as debt-ridden as we are, has met the government’s 2% of GDP NATO commitment. Thanks to pressure from Donald Trump, eh. It seems that has revitalized Canada as a player on the world stage… so much so we can forgive the PM for his three-way options to his stand on the war in Iran, and the similar response ‘mechanism’ of his Minister of Defence in connection to the week-long delay in informing the public on a matter. Thanks to a story of the Iranian airstrike on the Canadian section of base in Kuwait, first publicized in LaPresse, it might not have surfaced at all. So fortified is our resolve now, that PM Carney has made his usual style of strong commitment in saying Canada might join efforts to ensure freedom of navigation in the Mideast if there is a ceasefire. Perhaps he, like his Minister of Defence, should keep abreast of developments over there by reading the odd newspaper article; wherein he would know that one of Iran’s conditions would be for control of the Strait of Hormuz by levying fees for safe passage, but currently allows shipments of humanitarian aid through without assault. Trump has said America doesn’t need the strait, so might he just pull out? Would that equate to a ceasefire? At any rate, Carney might as well have said Canada will lend a hand once peace is established! I guess there might be need of a new bureaucracy setup somewhere over there. And who best to get that ball rolling, eh?

Give Cherry the order
Re: ‘Cherry on top?’ (Warren Kinsella, March 22): If there is honesty and justice in Canada, Andrew Lawton definitely is well aware of it in recommending Don Cherry for the Order of Canada. Right across Canada and also in the U.S., Cherry is well respected for his honesty and integrity. He is a true Canadian, more than we can say about most of our politicians. Please, Kinsella, never put Cherry’s name in the same column as Donald Trump. You never mix garbage with true honesty. Please make all Canadians proud and strongly support awarding Don Cherry the Order of Canada.
BRYAN MILLSIP, Stouffville, Ont.
(Cherry deserves it — but the Liberals are too political with such honours)
Crazy chronicles
Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld montage of NDP lunacy shows a creepy inside look at this Canadian political party that wants to ‘control’ Canadians with woke policies on steroids. Now, you’ll have to sit through the first 2 3/4 minutes of lame jokes about the media news, before the ‘NDP Crazy Chronicle’ begins, but once it does, every Albertan who witnesses the real heart of the NDP will want to avoid ever handing the keys of government over to these cheerleaders of victim identity politics!

The trouble with Lewis
(Re: ‘No reason to fear Avi Lewis,’ Letters to the Editor, Sun, April 1) No reason to fear Avi Lewis? How about Jagmeet Singh propping up the worst government in Canadian history just so he could get the pension he stole from the actual candidate in the riding Singh moved to. Ditto May, the waste of oxygen who moved four times to steal her seat. The NDP might as well just run as Liberals. Two-trillion reasons to fear all of these Liberal suck-ups. Screw taxpayers, right comrade?
