While their two stars have not played much this season, the Fever and Sky will meet for the fourth time this year at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Saturday night.
Caitlin Clark has been absent since before the All-Star break, after she suffered a right groin injury in a July 15 game against the Sun. Angel Reese has been out since July 29 with a back issue.
The two teams have gone in opposite directions without their best players. Indiana won five games in a row in late July and early August and has looked like a team that can contend for a playoff spot while Clark recovers. Chicago, however, lost eight in a row in the same time frame, including two with Reese out of the lineup.

7:20 p.m. — We’re under an hour away from tipoff in the fourth meeting of the Fever and Sky this year. Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese will both be out with injuries.
Is Angel Reese playing today?
Reese is likely to be out for Saturday’s game with a back injury. She has not played since July 29 and has missed six of Chicago’s last seven games.
Head coach Tyler Marsh indicated on Tuesday that Reese’s return is not imminent. “There isn’t a concrete timetable. To the extent that I know, it’s a back injury and she continues to be day to day,” Marsh said. “I think she’s progressing, but it’s still kind of wait and see.”
Is Caitlin Clark playing today?
Clark is also likely to be out for Saturday’s game. She has not played since July 15 due to a right groin ailment and has played in just 13 games this season.
Head coach Stephanie White provided an update on Clark on Monday: “It’s day-to-day right now, we’re putting no timetable on it,” White said. “[She is] going through the rehab process, and then we want to reintegrate her from a strength and conditioning standpoint and then get her back to basketball activities. So we’re taking it one day at a time, really slow rolling it, slow playing it.”
