Doja Cat is a true innovator when it comes to experimenting with her look. Whether she’s stepping out on stage, on the red carpet, or simply on the streets, she never fails to switch things up and serve a serious look. Who could ever forget when she turned up to the 2023 Met Gala dressed as an actual cat? Or when she painted herself red and covered her body in 30,000 Swarovski crystals? Her latest look is another stylistic feat to add to the books.
Performing at Outside Lands at Golden Gate Park on August 08 in San Francisco, Doja Cat leaned into a 1980s-inspired rocker look. She donned a two-piece zebra print oufit, pairing high-waisted skinny pants with a push-up bra and a matching cropped jacket with shoulder pads. She layered several studded belts around her hips and waist and wore a matching studded choker.

The look came together thanks to her dramatic wig—a voluminous, pouffy blonde piece with a subtle mullet shape that seemed to erupt in shorter strands around her face before falling in long blonde strands at the back that fell past her waist. Naturally, she went all out on the makeup, too, rocking bright pink cheeks and a red lip.
She paired the new hair with a leopard print look.

During her performance, Doja Cat debuted her new song “Jealous Type” from her forthcoming album Vie.
As Doja Cat explained to V Magazine, the album takes its inspiration from the ’80s (which would explain her latest look). “I have so many things that float around in my brain when it comes to the ‘80s,” she said. “And I also am a ‘95 baby, so I have no experience of the ‘80s or any relation to it in that sense.”
She added, “There’s something that almost brings me back to a happy place when I see it now. I wanted to play with that nostalgia by using these Lo-Fi sounds and samples and things that reminded you of something from your childhood, but it wasn’t on the nose ‘80s.”

Doja Cat also experimented with ’80s influences at this year’s Met Gala where she wore Marc Jacobs and rocked another voluminous wig. “I feel like I’ve just been inspired mostly by the ’80s a lot lately, so this is kind of what I wanted to incorporate,” she told Vogue.
