A BC Ferries vessel previously out of service will hit the water again today to help manage an onslaught of passengers this Easter.
In a news release, BC Ferries said the starboard generator issue affecting the Spirit of Vancouver Island, which runs the Swartz Bay and Tsawwassen, has been repaired.
The Vancouver-Victoria vessel will return to service April 3, providing additional sailings to support travel over the Easter long weekend.
This comes just one day after B.C. Ferries’ president and CEO Nicolas Jimenez said at a press conference that the Spirit of Vancouver Island and the Queen of Surrey were out of service.
“Sailings added today will be used to accommodate standby customers already at the terminals and will not be available for advance booking,” BC Ferries said in a news release.
Standby space will be limited, and customers without a reservation should expect delays.
For sailings added in the coming days, some customers whose reservations were cancelled will be contacted directly regarding rebooking as sailings are reinstated.
Additional space will be made available for booking as capacity is confirmed.
