Andrew Knack is off again on a trip to China. What’s with all the show of love for China lately? When asked by the media the difference between this trip (paid for by Edmonton Global, another taxpayer-funded group) and Chief Driechel’s trip to Israel, Knack replied that transparency was the difference because he’s letting us know in advance that this is for trade opportunities and investment. I would like to think that the mayor is well enough informed that he understands that any trade or investment with foreign countries must be done by the Canadian government and mayors can’t make deals willy nilly without their approval. Because there is no federal bureaucrat on this trip, anything that is dealt with is pure conjecture. Perhaps if he removed the bureaucratic hurdles in our city and gave tax incentives he might find that we have local investors right in our own backyard. I find it interesting that Knack likes to tell the provincial government to stay in their lane, yet he switches lanes like Mario Andretti. I hope that the citizens see through his transparency ruse and recognizes it for what it is. A taxpayer vacation to China.

April 1, 2026 is a very important development in the fact that this is the first manned mission to the moon since 1973 when Apollo landed on the moon so many years ago. It is so awesome that one of the astronauts is a Canadian. I do wonder if anyone remembers when Apollo 13 had an accident on board which caused them to circle the moon to get the crippled spacecraft back to earth. I thought they travelled on the other side of the moon to circle that spacecraft back to earth.

PEACE TIME

Just for a change, let’s all shout out very loud and clear: War rest in peace. Enough of war causing nothing but loss of lives, destruction and contributing climate disaster for future generation to deal with. Let’s start rebuilding the ruins with hope, and say it again loud: War rest in peace! How about that?
