The inaugural Bourbon, BBQ and Mayhem event in east Jefferson County featured amateur barbecue competitions and boxing matches.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The first-ever Bourbon, BBQ and Mayhem made its debut in east Jefferson County.
There was plenty of fun during the event.
The weekend’s highlight included boxing, kickboxing and an amateur barbecue competition featuring grill experts to showcase their skills.
Operation BBQ Relief, an organization that has provided nearly 13 million meals across 42 states and the Bahamas who are dealing with disasters. They have been doing this work since 2011.
“Food is the greatest unifier in the world, and barbecue is one of the best ways to do it,” founder Stan Hayes said. “When you can do a little competition, bring people together with a little camaraderie – a little competition goes a long way.”
Sales from the event helps the National Barbecue Association, who feed those directly by natural disasters across the country.
Once the barbecue competition finished, the boxing match highlighted up and coming professional boxers.

Before the match started, a moment of silence was held for Rahaman Ali, brother of late boxing champion Muhammad Ali.
