Eryk Anders did not have the night he wanted at UFC Vegas 109.
The veteran middleweight got clubbed with a spinning back elbow delivered by Christian Leroy Duncan before eventually crumbling under the weight of a barrage of punches. Anders was rocked badly by the elbow, and Duncan didn’t relent until the fight was over.
Afterwards, Anders went backstage to receive medical treatment, which included stitches to close an absolutely nasty gash that was opened over his eye.
UFC CEO Dana White posted photos of the before and after from the cut over Anders’ eye on Saturday.
It was a tough end for Anders after he had been teasing his retirement leading up to UFC Vegas 109 and then ultimately suffered a knockout in the fight.
It remains to be seen if this is truly the last time Anders competes or not, but first, he’ll have to lick his wounds from this loss and wait for the cut over his eye to heel before he can decide anything for the future.
