An athlete from Grovedale showcased his skills at the CFL combine in late March.

Carter Kettyle grew up in the Peace Region, graduating from St. Joseph High School in 2021.

Kettyle continued to play football after high school, committing to the University of Alberta, to play wide-receiver. Kettyle made his collegiate debut in 2022, playing in six games and totalling 268 receiving yards.

Fast-forward to 2025, Kettyle put up 649 scrimmage yards, and eight touchdowns in just seven games.

After four seasons with the UofA Golden Bears, Kettyle has put his name into the Canadian Football League draft. Kettyle had the opportunity to show-off his skills at the combine in Edmonton from March 27 to 29.

“It was awesome, it was probably one of the coolest things I have ever done in my life. I was definitely doing all I could to take it all in,” Kettyle said.

During school breaks, Kettyle likes to come back to the region and help host football camps, when the opportunity arises.

“I feel very fortunate to be able to kind of pave the way for a lot of younger athletes that have the same dreams that I did, when I was their age. That is something I take a lot of pride in.”

Between now and the draft, Kettyle plans to keep putting the hard work in.

“Keep training, staying on the field, and in the gym and continue to get my body exactly where I want to be for camp.”

The CFL draft is slated for April 28.
