Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz exited Wednesday‘s game against the Washington Capitals in the first period after suffering a lower-body injury while making a save.

Stolarz kicked out his left leg to make a stop and immediately began writhing in pain in the crease.
The 32-year-old was attended to by the team’s medical staff and was eventually helped off the ice and into the locker room.
Joseph Woll took over in net for the Maple Leafs at the 2:34 mark of the opening frame.
Stolarz was making his 26th appearance of the season for the Leafs and entered the game with a 10-10-3 record and a 3.29 goals-against average.
The Edison, New Jersey native is in his second season in Toronto after he joined the team as a free agent in July of 2024.
Maple Leafs have been eliminated from postseason contention and entered play tied with the Florida Panthers for last in the Atlantic Division with 78 points.
The Leafs also announced that defenceman Brandon Carlo (lower body) and forward Dakota Joshua (upper body) would not finish Wednesday’s game against the Capitals.

Carlo played 12:07, took 19 shifts and registered one shot on goal before leaving the game.
The 29-year-old was skating in his 54th game of the season for the Leafs and has contributed seven assists.
Joshua had 8:30 of ice time before departing the action and collected two hits and one shot on goal against the Capitals.
The Dearborn, Michigan native has 10 goals and eight assists for the Leafs in 55 games this season, his first with the franchise.
