5 sent to hospital after early-morning Surrey house fire

One person was rescued and five sent to hospital after an early-morning house fire in Surrey on Thursday.
At 4:40 a.m. Thursday (April 9), Surrey Fire Service crews responded to a report about a possible house fire at the 12900-block of 104 Avenue.
On arrival, firefighters found a single-family detached home with heavy fire involvement.
“Our firefighters worked very quickly to control the fire in initial rescue efforts,” Surrey Fire Service assistant chief Geoff McIntyre told Peace Arch News.
McIntyre said one resident was rescued from the home and five other occupants were taken to hospital.
McIntyre added that, in addition to those sent to hospital, multiple people were displaced afterwards due to fire and water damage.
Four firetrucks and 16 firefighters were on scene to help stop the fire from spreading.
No firefighters were reported injured.
The cause of the fire is still unknown and currently being investigated.
