Air Canada has opened a new café at YVR.
The second Air Canada Café location within the domestic C concourse, the new 84-seat, 4,489-square-foot café is situated between gates 50 and 51, which are common departure points for the airline’s direct flights to Montreal and Toronto airports.
Inspired by West Coast design, the dining space features elements such as locally designed pendant lights inspired by river rocks and a mural by Coast Salish artist from the Musqueam nation, Kelly Cannell.
“We have this stunning landscape,” said Hali Hamilton, director of ground product for Air Canada, as she gestured toward the wall of windows with a view toward the airplane-filled tarmac and the Straight of Georgia and beyond. “And that is really where we drew inspiration in terms of the design of the lounge.”

With an on-site kitchen, the café offers a selection of eat-in or grab and go bites such as Chinese BBQ pork buns and matcha overnight oats. There are even a few local highlights on the menu such as Lee’s Donuts, beer from Locality Brewing, Oddity Kombucha and wines from Okanagan Crush Pad.
“And we also have Nanaimo bars,” said Hamilton. “It couldn’t be B.C. without that.”

Access is limited to Air Canada Aeroplan 50K-plus, business class, Star Alliance Gold and ‘premium’ Aeroplan cardholders who are flying that day. The airline operates members-only lounges at YVR, along with cafés in Toronto and Montreal airports.
But there are plenty of dining options that are available to all travellers around the domestic airport space.
The terminal boasts a growing selection of locally focused food purveyors including Hula Poke, the Dirty Apron, and fan-favourite Japadog — along with a stand-alone Lee’s Donut outpost to get your sweet fix before you fly.
