The fifth edition of Filipino Restaurant Month has kicked off in Canada. And to celebrate, five restaurants in Toronto are offering prix fixe menus.

Launched in 2022, Filipino Restaurant Month (FRMC) is the flagship gastro-diplomacy program of the Philippine Embassy and Consulates General in Canada, co-organized with the Philippine Departments of Tourism and Trade and Industry.

Held each April, a total of 30 restaurants across seven provinces in Canada are participating in this year’s festivities.

Throughout the celebration, these restaurateurs play a vital role in promoting “rich culinary heritage and creating bridges between the Philippines and Canada, one plate at a time,” according to the Philippine Consulate General.

And this year’s featured ingredient is the Philippine mango.

“Distinguished by its signature richness and unmatched sweetness, the Philippine mango is more than a tropical icon; it is our national fruit, a symbol of home and pride that we carry as Filipinos,” said Consul General Kristine Leilani R. Salle.

“It is a cornerstone of the country’s export industry, with its smooth, fibreless flesh making it ideal for value-added processing across multiple food and beverage formats.”

Here’s a look at the participating Toronto restaurants.
