Robberies with guns continue to affect residents in Mississauga and Brampton.

Since the start of 2026, police data indicates that a combined 204 robberies were reported across both cities, with 114 cases in Mississauga, 89 in Brampton, and one incident in Toronto that fell under Peel police jurisdiction.

51 of the robberies were carried out with guns, 68 with other weapons, six were purse snatches and 79 were listed simply as “other” by police.

As of Saturday 33 of these incidents are considered solved, 152 are still under investigation and 19 remain unsolved.

According to Peel Regional Police data, the four most common hotspots for this type of crime this month were:

City Centre Drive — five occurrences
Dundas Street — five occurrences
Earnscliffe Circle — five occurrences
Erin Mills Parkway — seven occurrences
Huronatrio Street — seven occurrences
Main Street — five occurrences

Peel Regional Police continue to share helpful safety tips for residents and businesses:

Ensure you have a properly working surveillance system.
Ensure you have proper lighting inside and outside your premises, and remember to maintain them.
Provide all staff with robbery prevention training.
Reduce the amount of cash on hand by making frequent cash drops.
Have low shelving to improve the view of customers.
Place your shelves in a way that allows employees to see between the aisles from the sales counter.
Remove all excessive window signage or clutter from the sales area and other critical lines of sight.
If a robbery happens, victims are advised to contact police immediately.
