Edmonton is down nearly 100 shelter spaces after the city declined to renew the lease of the Elizabeth Fry Society’s shelter. The land in the northeast of the city has been providing shelter to more than 3,400 people since opening in 2024. A city spokesperson says that while the shelter is important, the land it was on was never intended for long-term use. Emily Fitzpatrick has more.
