Another months-long lane closure on Highway 417 in central Ottawa starts Monday, part of an ongoing project to replace overpasses that has sometimes frustrated motorists in previous summers.
Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation (MTO) and contractors Kiewit-Dufferin Midtown Partnership began replacing five aging Queensway overpasses in 2021. The project also includes improvements to the highway’s walls and ramps at Bronson Avenue.
The work was expected to end last year, but ramps at Lyon Street and Bronson have remained closed.
Earlier this month, the partnership announced it will once again need to close a lane while contractors complete work on a noise barrier, as well as electrical and drainage work.
Starting April 13, the right-hand eastbound lane will be closed from Carling Avenue to Rochester Street and the speed limit along that stretch will be reduced to 80 km/h. The closure is expected to remain until late summer.
There will be other temporary lane and ramp closures over the summer, according to the contractors.
