UPDATE 2: Since our first update on the story, Lucasfilm did get back to us and clarified that Ewan McGregor it is all a misunderstanding. Moreover, Collider has since published the actual quote from McGregor, who said:

“Well, I like watching my wife, you know, so I really enjoyed Ahsoka. I thought that was brilliantly done. It’s so funny, like, you know, she’s shooting the second season now, and I know. Is that a secret?”

Scroll down for the first update and the original story, which was published based on a misquote that circulated on social media. Nexus Point News has since acknowledged there might have been a mistake.

UPDATE: More accounts from people attending the panel are being posted online, complicating the picture of the events from the outside. Screen Rant also had a writer for the site in attendance, who apparently said that “McGregor was actually talking about his wife,” Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who plays Hera Syndulla in the series.

They added: “In context, McGregor was discussing how he’ll facetime his wife, only to find she’s wearing the green Twi’lek facepaint.” Apparently, other journalists attending the event also wouldn’t recall McGregor saying he’d be in the new season.

The situation has turned into a he-said-she-said, but we will hopefully clear it up on Monday once representatives for both parties go back to work. We are keeping the original story below.

Oops! During an appearance at Fan Expo Boston 2025, Ewan McGregor apparently revealed he will be appearing next to Hayden Christensen in Ahsoka Season 2.

At the moment, we do not have a video of the interaction, but Nexus Point News, which took pictures of McGregor and Christensen on stage, allegedly said on social media that McGregor said the following:

“We begin shooting season two [Ahsoka] soon – wait, was I supposed to say that?”

The quote comes from a different account, @Mando3Updates, but we haven’t found the original source of that quote. Nexus Point News did post on Twitter/X that McGregor confirmed his return. The pictures of McGregor and Christensen together would confirm they were at the panel.

Christensen’s return as Anakin Skywalker was confirmed back in April at Star Wars Celebration. Kristian Harloff had revealed in his show a few months ago that McGregor would be donning the Jedi robes again in Season 2 of the series for more Clone Wars-era flashbacks. He later said that Natalie Portman would be returning as well, though that was later denied to us.

Filming on Ahsoka Season 2 has been happening in the UK since late April, and will continue until October at the earliest. If there are more Clone Wars flashbacks in the scripts, it would also make sense that Ariana Greenblatt returns as young Ahsoka. For now, we don’t have many details on the plot of the new season, but Filoni did confirm several key characters’ returns back at Celebration. In addition to Christensen, Baylan Skoll is also back, now played by Rory McCann. Admiral Ackbar is returning, too, and so is Zeb Orrelios.

Recently we got our first official look at Season 2, via a picture of Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger. Bryce Dallas Howard, Dave Filoni, Jennifer Getzinger, and Anders Engström will be directing episodes.

We’ve reached out to representatives from McGregor and Lucasfilm for further confirmation but have not heard back on a Sunday afternoon yet.

Ahsoka Season 2 is expected to hit Disney Plus in 2026.

However, fantasy movies are not his only cup of tea, as movies from Scorsese, Fincher, Kubrick or Hitchcock have been an obsession for him since he started to understand the language of filmmaking. He is that guy who will watch a black and white movie, just because it is in black and white.
