The Celtics got some minor housekeeping done when it comes to their roster, waiving two-way forward Miles Norris, the team announced Sunday. Boston faced some roster questions after its recent moves from last week, but waiving Norris answered some of them.
Norris, 25, was signed to a two-way contract by the Celtics last March. He appeared in three NBA games for Boston last season, averaging 2.3 points and 3.0 rebounds. The forward could hit 3-pointers and provided nice size, but he’ll look for his next NBA stop after this move. Norris also played in Summer League for the Celtics, where he averaged 9.8 points and 4.3 rebounds in his four games played.
The Celtics made a pair of moves last week. First, they traded away Georges Niang and two second-round picks to the Jazz for two-way wing RJ Luis. Then they signed Chris Boucher to a one-year contract.
However, the Celtics faced two-way roster questions with the move. They had already signed rookie guard Max Shulga to a two-way contract. Plus, they acquired Luis and had Norris under contract, meaning all three two-way slots were filled. However, Boston hadn’t signed big man Amari Williams, the 46th overall pick in the 2025 draft, to any deal, two-way or otherwise.
Now, with Norris being let go, it clears up a spot for Williams. It appears the Celtics will be going forward with Luis, who started his collegiate career at UMass before transferring to St. John’s. If Boston does go through with signing Williams, it will have signed players to all three two-way slots again.
