Police have charged a Brampton man after he turned himself in following a hit-and-run crash on the weekend.
The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday while a pedestrian was walking on the sidewalk on the south side of Albion Road in Etobicoke, the Toronto Police Service says.
That’s when the driver of a red Toyota Corolla, travelling westbound on Albion Road, crossed over into the eastbound lanes and mounted the sidewalk.
Investigators say the driver turned himself in to police on Sunday and has since been charged.
The 58-year-old male pedestrian was rushed to the hospital in life-threatening condition, while the driver fled the scene on foot.
Two passengers inside the Toyota were also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Police say the 40-year-old driver from Brampton has been charged with dangerous operation/bodily harm, leaving the accident scene/bodily harm, dangerous operation/bodily harm, and leaving the accident scene/bodily harm.
