Toronto police are urging people to avoid the area of McNicoll Avenue and Tiffield Road, just east of Middlefield Road, after the driver of a vehicle collided with a fire hydrant.

Police said they were called to that area just before 6:30 p.m. for reports of a vehicle into a fire hydrant.

It is not known if anyone was hurt in the incident.

The hydrant, meanwhile, has been activated and there is flooding on McNicoll, police say.

Toronto fire is also on hand and is using a pumper to suction water out of a flooded building.
