The son of a former Swift Current Bronco has signed with the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets.
Boston Buckberger inked a two-year, entry level contract with the Blue Jackets on Monday.
“Boston Buckberger is a smart, skilled defenseman who can play in all situations and has a championship pedigree,” said Blue Jackets President and GM Don Waddell in a team release. “He was among the top scoring defensemen in college hockey this year and a big part of Denver’s championship team. We are very excited that he is now part of the Blue Jackets organization.”
The Saskatoon native put up 86 points in 128 NCAA games with the University of Denver.

Boston’s father, Ashley Buckberger, won the 1993 WHL Championship with Swift Current.
The elder Buckberger also won the 1995 WHL Championship with Kamloops.
