Premier Wab Kinew is heading to Ottawa this week with a delegation of Manitoba business leaders to advocate for the province’s economic priorities with federal officials.

The trip will include meetings with the prime minister, cabinet ministers and senior officials.

Key priorities being highlighted include expanding CentrePort Canada, advancing development of the Port of Churchill, modernizing trade corridors, supporting defence base upgrades, and growing the province’s aerospace and advanced manufacturing sectors. The delegation is also pushing for increased allocations under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program to address labour shortages.

Business groups joining the delegation include the Business Council of Manitoba, Manitoba Chambers of Commerce, Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce and the Manitoba Heavy Construction Association.

The province says recent investments, including a $10-million Churchill Catalyst Fund announced in this year’s budget, are aimed at supporting development at the Port of Churchill and strengthening northern trade infrastructure.
