Garmin’s Venu X1 is receiving software version 16.40
Garmin has released a new stable software update, version 16.40, for one of its smartwatches. This release is relatively minor, tackling a bug experienced by users of the Venu X1 wearable.
The Garmin Venu X1 smartwatch has received another stable update. Software version 16.40 has landed a couple of weeks after the wearable received the 16.37 update, which brought a series of bug fixes to the Venu X1, as well as the Venu 4 and vivoactive 6 smartwatches.
In the software version 16.40 update, Garmin is issuing a minor bug fix. According to the change log (below), this release solves a problem where the smartwatch’s serial number was not displayed as expected on the About page. Aside from this, there appear to be no other changes for the Venu X1 with this update. Presumably, the Venu 4 and vivoactive 6 smartwatches were not affected by this issue, as similar releases have not arrived for these related wearables.
In a recent post on the Garmin forum, a representative for the company confirmed that software version 16.40 was now available for all users of the Venu X1 smartwatch (curr. $699.99 at Amazon). It should be pushed to these wearables automatically when connected to Garmin Connect Mobile or Garmin Express software. However, users can also manually trigger this update by going to the Main Menu > Settings > System > Software Update.
