Bad news – at least for now – for tennis, badminton and pickleball players and runners who use Edmonton’s Kinsmen Sports Centre in the river valley.
The Kinsmen Fieldhouse is closed for renovations until the summer or fall of next year.
Parts of the sports centre are more than 50 years old.
When it reopens next year, the city promises some improvements, like a new artificial turf on centre courts, the five-lane synthetic competitive track, plus a new batting cage,
Also promised are upgrades to the training area, flooring, stairs and other improvements.
Initial plans refer a larger rehab on the entire Kinsmen Sports Centre. The plans were downsized because of funding.
That means, for now, the pool remains open with no immediate upgrades.
