The Municipality of Marmora and Lake has been advised by the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) that wildfire HALO018, located on Crown Land in the northern area of the municipality, is actively burning.

MNR has four crews on the ground with water bombers in the area.

If you see water bombers in the area:

Please move off lakes and give aircraft the space they need to safely collect water.
Do not operate drones anywhere near the fire zone or water bomber operations. Drones pose a serious safety hazard.  Aircraft will not fly if a drone is detected.

As per the ministry regulations, drones must be kept at least nine km away from forest fire. Failure to comply can interfere with emergency response and put lives at risk.

The Municipality of Marmora and Lake, in coordination with the MNR, Hastings County and neighbouring municipalities, will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates.

Residents are asked to remain vigilant and follow all fire safety guidelines.

Please see earlier announcement from Marmora and Lake Fire Services:

The threat of wildfires has become even more extreme and there is now a large wildfire burning in the northern area of Marmora & Lake.  MNR has deployed water bombers in an attempt to contain this fire, this may result in water bombers flying over Marmora and surrounding area.
