Three men from Brampton have been charged after police say they were caught driving around in a stolen vehicle with 3d-printed licensee plates.
The OPP says officers were on patrol in the area of Mayfield Road and Coleraine Drive in Caledon around 2:40 a.m. on Saturday when they spotted a vehicle with an obstructed licence plate.
Police say there was a black plastic cover put onto the license plate.
The officers pulled the vehicle over and discovered the vehicle had been previously reported stolen, and that the vehicle’s license plates were 3D-printed.
Police say Gagandeep Singh, 26, Tushar, 24, and Sujal, 21, all of Brampton, have been arrested and charged with one count each of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
The accused are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville at a later date to answer to their charges.
The incident has police reminding drivers that obstructing a licence makes it difficult to identify vehicles, enforce traffic laws, and investigate collisions, which undermines public safety and effective law enforcement.
