The branch of the Réseau express métropolitain (REM) linking the west of the Island of Montreal to the rest of the network will be put into service on Monday, May 18.

This branch, the third of the network to be put into service, will have four stations: Des Sources, Fairview–Pointe-Claire, Kirkland and Anse-à-l’Orme.

With the opening of the Anse-à-l’Orme branch, the REM will have 23 stations spread over 63 kilometers of track.

The first five stations, linking Brossard to downtown Montreal, opened in 2023. A 30-kilometre branch to Deux-Montagnes, on the North Shore, was put into service last November.

Since the Deux-Montagnes branch was put into service, the REM records an average of 75,000 passages each day, with a peak of 98,000 passages recorded in a single day.

A final branch, towards Montreal-Trudeau airport, is still expected to be completed in 2027.
