The plan for the New York Jets’ quarterback room might have been revealed by Daniel Jeremiah.
The NFL Network analyst spoke on his annual pre-draft conference call and discussed what the team might be thinking.

Veteran Geno Smith joined New York this offseason. Despite being named starter for the 2026 season, Smith is not a long-term option. Could that be found by the Jets at the upcoming 2026 NFL draft?
Per Jeremiah, don’t count on it.
In terms of using a top selection at the draft on a quarterback? Jeremiah’s intel makes him believe the Jets will not have that idea in mind heading into the 2026 draft:
The reason for the Jets potentially thinking this comes down to two things.
First, the team must not like the options available in the 2026 draft.
Typically each draft has two or three quarterback cited as “first-round talents” each offseason. In 2026, there is only Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza in this categoy and he will be selected first overall by the Las Vegas Raiders.

On top of that, the 2027 NFL draft is widely considered to be a better class for quarterbacks already. Evidently, the Jets appear to agree with that logic too.
