A pedestrian was hit and killed in Mississauga early Wednesday morning.
The man was struck at Hurontario Street and Derry Road West at 3:45 a.m., Peel Regional Police said on X.
The man was pronounced dead on the scene, police said. A police spokesperson said the man was in his 40s.
The driver remained on scene.
The Major Collision Bureau is investigating.
Westbound Derry Road was closed at Hurontario Street, southbound Hurontario Street is closed at Kingsway Drive, eastbound Derry Road is closed at Maritz Drive, and northbound Hurontario Street is closed at Admiral Boulevard.
There is no timeline yet for when the roads will reopen, the spokesperson said.
Police asked drivers to avoid the area.
