Environment Canada has projected a mix of sun and cloud for today, along with a 40 per cent chance of showers in the morning and early afternoon, as well as a risk of a thunderstorm early in the afternoon. Also, expect a northwest wind gusting to 40 km/h in the afternoon, and a high of 11 C.

Centennial Cages has been a project in the works for six years.

2. 136 repeat offenders arrested, 54 weapons seized in Surrey in 4-month crackdown

Seized weapons include 11 bear spray cans, 39 edged weapons, two brass knuckles, one baton and one replica firearm.

3. Surrey council lodges formal complaint against Metro Vancouver

Council approved a motion by Mayor Brenda Locke in which she declared Metro “has conducted its business in a manner that is unfairly oppressive to, prejudicial to, and disregards the interests of the City and other member municipalities.”

4. ‘Spectacular crash’ in East Cloverdale

The incident occurred at approximately 7 p.m. April 13, at 192 Street and 54 Avenue.

5. Free sport ‘try it’ sessions at Play for Life 55+ event in Surrey

A celebration of active living for older adults is planned at South Surrey Recreation and Arts Centre on Saturday, April 25.
